This piece was influenced by the design language of the Gilmartin Studios wood working company. The design language of Michael Gilmartin's work is very organic. A sense of complex simplicity is evident in his work. His preferred choice of materials to use is wood.
Ideation began with a soft and delicate concept. My goal was to create a coffee maker that appeared to have a certain elegance about it with an edgy appeal. My biggest influence was the exaggerated swan-like elegance of Michael's design concepts.
With the use of Alias and Bunkspeed, I was able to combine materials from opposite ends of the spectrum to identify my piece for an interesting outcome.
